Diamond Head - Amelia Earhart Lookout
Our first stop is a scenic lookout perched high on the eastern edge of Waikiki's iconic Diamond Head Volcano. From here, you'll get sweeping views of Oahu's southeastern coastline—perfect for snapping photos. On a clear day, you might even spot Hanauma Bay in the distance, and if you're lucky, a faint outline of Maui. This spot is officially called the Amelia Earhart Lookout, named after the place where crowds once gathered to watch Earhart embark on her groundbreaking solo flight from Hawaii to North America.
Halona Blowhole
Molten lava tubes from volcanic eruptions that occurred from Oahu’s Koko Head crater formed the natural occurrence known as the Halona Blowhole. This lava tube extends into the ocean with a very narrow opening at the top, and when the surf is just right, water pressure builds up within the lava tube and erupts through the narrow opening creating a special Hawaiian Geyser for your viewing pleasure.
Makapu'u Point
This location is indeed known for its spectacular views of Oahu's windward coast and dramatic sea cliffs, especially near Waimanalo. Also known as Manana Island or Rabbit Island. This nickname originates more from the fact that rabbits were introduced there in the 1880's.
Hawaiian Coffee and Macadamia Nut Tastings
After a beautiful drive along Oahu’s eastern coastline, our next stop is a local shop that finds itself tucked away under aged Banyan Trees with macadamia nut and delicious Kona coffee tastings, along with very tempting Hawaiian chocolates amongst other treats.
Chinaman's Hat and Kualoa Valley Mountain Range
Chinaman’'s Hat, also known as Mokoli'i, is nestled right next to the Kualoa Valley Mountain range. This location is known for its dramatic landscape filmed in a number of Hollywood movies; most notably and fan favorite Jurassic Park. The island has earned the nickname Chinaman's Hat from its resemblance to the straw hats that the Chinese immigrants wore when working Oahu’s sugar plantations during the early 1900's.
Pali Lookout
Perched along the breathtaking cliffs of the Koʻolau Mountains on Oahu, the Nuʻuanu Pali Lookout offers visitors stunning views of the island’s windward coast. Rich in historical significance, this site is where King Kamehameha I achieved victory in his quest to unify the Hawaiian Islands. Surrounded by strong winds and lush landscapes, the lookout combines natural splendor with cultural importance, making it a must-visit destination for anyone exploring Oahu.
